Hey girl, since when did you learn to…

hey-girl

Smile

and greet the guests at your door
beckoning them inside
when just a minute back
you were lying in your bed
crying your eyes out

Rise

and leave your bed in the morning
living your everyday routine
when just a night back
you had resolved to yourself to change your ” everyday ” mundane

Love

and devote your entire being
worshipping “him” and the home
when just a day back
you were shown your place
in “his” life and “his” home

Act

and show the world
that all is well in your eutopia
when just a heartbeat back
You died a million deaths
in trying to “smile”, “rise” and “love”

I am Sapna Dhyani. I write about everything that crosses my mind. I write about life as I see it and like to infuse humour into my blogs. I belong to Dehradun but now live in a new city after every two years, being an army wife. This uprooting of base every couple of years, setting up a new home in a new place, meeting new people and forging new friendships, exploring new cities; all this ensures that I go through and am blessed with a myriad of experiences.

  1. ” Aansoo se bheege anchal par man kaa sab kuchh rakhna hoga , tujh ko apni smit rekha se yah sandhipatra likhna hoga ” A girl does not have to learn ‘ to smile ‘ and ‘ to love ‘ and pretend ‘ all is fine ‘ despite things being far from that This art is inherent in her , an inbuilt quality that evolves with time .Very touching poem depicting the inside story of every sensible girl . Congrats , Sapna , I really loved it .

    1. Thank you Ma’am, for the appreciation. Yes, you are so right. This art i.e. to “smile”, “rise” , “love” or pretend ; is present in almost all women. Sometimes I wonder, is it inbuilt, or is it learnt over time ; watching the mothers and other women, and the society at large?
